FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS-CHIROPRACTIC
1. How can I benefit from Chiropractic care?
In the short term many people consult our Chiropractors for the relief of various spinal-related conditions such as headache, neck pain and back conditions. Others seek our help for more longstanding chronic health issues or to enhance their wellness. At Centre for Chiropractic Care, our chiropractors specialize in the care of the spine and its associated nervous system. We offer corrective approaches for many spinal conditions such as postural problems and abnormal spinal curvatures. Besides our expertise with neck pain, back pain and sciatica, people consult us for headaches, migraines and other conditions similarly related to dysfunctions of the spine. To determine if you can be helped, contact us for a personal consultation with one of our experienced Chiropractic Doctors.
2. What can I expect on a first consultation?
Consultations and examinations are routinely scheduled together on your first visit with us as a new patient. After your welcome to our centre, there is brief paperwork to complete.
A meeting with a chiropractor will start with a personalized interview about you and your health. Only after a careful spinal examination can we determine whether we can help you with your particular health issue. We will take the time to evaluate your case and offer you the best advice for the care of your specific condition.
3. What is an adjustment?
A spinal adjustment is a very specific and comfortable low-force manoeuver often performed using hands on techniques but may be performed using a special adjusting instrument. The adjustment is the primary correction for problems associated with spinal alignment and function otherwise known as subluxations. Spinal subluxations are common but most often go unnoticed until they become painful or create other dysfunctions in the body as a result of an acute injury or with longstanding spinal subluxation. Only a chiropractor can determine if spinal subluxation is affecting your health.
4. Are x-rays routinely required?
No, the need for x-ray examination is an individual decision between you and your chiropractor. At any time during your care with us, specialized tests such as x-rays may be required but only if it assists in providing you with the best care. If x-rays are required, we refer you to a third party x-ray facility at a location convenient to you. We personally take the time to review your x-rays and a report of findings with you on your follow-up visit with us.
5. What do I do if I am unsure of which health professional to see?
We would recommend that you begin by consulting one of our chiropractors first. No medical referral is necessary. We will do our best to determine the nature of your health condition and when necessary, make an appropriate referral to another qualified health care professional. We are always interested in your health and wellness, to help you be the “finest you”. Please consult us to determine whether Chiropractic care can help you. If you are unsure as to whether Chiropractic is appropriate for you, we welcome you to make an appointment for a brief but personal and complimentary consultation with one of our Chiropractors.

The reasons for having your child checked may range from a preventive spinal checkup to back pain or neck problems from an injury or carrying a heavy backpack. There is never a more appropriate time than during growth and development to identify spinal dysfunctions that could interfere with their opportunity for optimal health. Please let us help them achieve their maximum potential and great posture along the way. Our caring staff can answer your questions about your child’s spinal health.

Each person requires a different amount of care throughout his or her lifetime. You always decide the length of time that you stay under our care. Typically, a program of care to correct your spinal problem is jointly decided upon with your chiropractor. Ongoing reassessments are our policy to ensure that your health and wellness goals are being attained. Chiropractic adjustments are unique and specialized techniques to correct spinal distortions called subluxations.
